SCSA's Chapters - a step towards a truly bilateral Chamber of Commerce

SwissCham Southern Africa is proud to announce that on the occasion of the official visit of Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard to South Africa, on the 7th of May 2007, SwissCham Southern Africa has opened its first Chapter in Johannesburg being the biggest business metropole of the entire Southern Africa Region.

Swiss companies have been present in South Africa for almost 100 years. Years ago these companies formed the Swiss Business Council (SBC). On May 7th, 2007 the SBC and all its members transformed into the new SwissCham Southern Africa - South Africa Chapter (SCSA - SAC). Since its inauguration it has grown substantially. This enables Global Players, SMEs as well as investors of all kind from both countries, Switzerland and South Africa, to engange more directly with eachother by using the network and platform provided by the SCSA and the SCSA - SAC.

The opening of the SCSA - South Africa Chapter was the first important step to become a truly bilateral Chamber of Commerce where all members of both countries can equally benefit from eachother. The SCSA and the SCSA - SAC are aware of their important bridge function and provide the necessary platform for the members to do:

  • networking
  • lobbying
  • exchange of experience
  • exchange of advise

The openig of the SCSA - South Africa Chapter was the first step to gain ground in the Southern Africa Region and shall not have been the last one. SCSA intends to grow further by opening other Chapters in time.
